At the Ukrainian Institute London, we have a dream: to establish Ukraine House — a dynamic centre for education, culture, and collective action in the heart of London. We know dreams become reality when nurtured by like-minded people, and we’re incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a dedicated community of friends and supporters. This year’s fundraising evening will bring us one step closer to turning this vision into reality and creating a lasting home for Ukrainian culture and community.

This year’s theme: from soil to soul

This year’s fundraising evening celebrates the powerful sense of rootedness that unites Ukrainians, wherever they are. It’s a tribute to the home we’ve built together here in London — and a call to protect the home we all share: Ukraine. The evening also honours the solidarity of those who have stood with Ukraine, helping to cultivate a community that crosses borders.

Our special guests

We’re thrilled to welcome two remarkable women:

  • Olia Hercules, celebrated British-Ukrainian chef, author and cultural ambassador

  • Felicity Spector, journalist, author, and tireless volunteer in some of Ukraine’s most affected regions

Together, they’ll discuss their latest books — Strong Roots and Bread and War — both of which will be available to purchase on the night.

An evening of culture and connection

Guests will enjoy a live performance by acclaimed British-Ukrainian jazz harpist Alina Bzhezhinska, a selection of Ukrainian food curated by Olia Hercules, and fine Ukrainian wine, and Coffee in Action’s signature Ukrainian flat red. The beautiful setting of the Bishopsgate Institute offers the perfect backdrop for an evening of conversation, connection, and community.

Why it matters

The UIL has been an independent charity for nearly a decade, continuing the legacy first laid down by Patriarch Josyf Slipyj, dissident and former Gulag prisoner, in the 1970s. Over the years, we’ve helped turn curiosity about Ukraine into deep-rooted understanding and support in the UK and beyond. Through the lens of Ukraine’s history, knowledge and lived experience, we demonstrate the urgent need for international solidarity and democratic security across Europe and the world.

By attending, you’ll not only bring us closer to making Ukraine House a reality, you’ll also support our ongoing work to spotlight vital issues, including justice, environmental challenges, and resistance to neo-imperialism. These concerns matter deeply — for Ukraine, for the UK, and for the world.

Where your support goes

All proceeds from the evening will go directly towards the UIL programming, institutional growth, and long-term development, helping turn our dream into a shared future.
