The Ukrainian Institute London will partner with the EU Delegation in the UK to host a panel in Liverpool to discuss Eurovision as a tool of cultural diplomacy. 

Moderated by Dean Vuletic, the author of a book on the history of Eurovision (‘Postwar Europe and the Eurovision Song Contest’), our panel includes Alevtina Kakhidze (Ukrainian artist), Claudette Buttigieg (Maltese national parliamentarian and Eurovision contestant), Martin Österdahl (Eurovision’s executive supervisor), and Sarah Sands (Chair of the British Council), with welcome words from H. E. Pedro Serrano, EU Ambassador to the UK.

Alevtina Kakhidze

Alevtina Kakhidze (1973, UA) is a Ukrainian artist. She works predominantly with performance and drawing. Now based in Muzychi, Ukraine, 26 kilometers from Kyiv, Kakhidze grew up in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. She studied at the Kyiv National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture (1999-2004) and in the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht (2004-2006). Since 2002 she has exhibited her work in Ukraine as well as internationally. Kakhidze was an active supporter of the Maidan revolution during winter 2013-2014. The information war between Ukraine and Russia, West and East forms the complex basis of her work in the recent years.
