Callout for volunteers! English school for displaced Ukrainians

We are seeking volunteers to help with our creche at West London Welcome, to look after children so that their parents can take English classes!

Learning English is crucial for Ukrainians displaced by the war to adapt to life in London – but for many people it’s not possible to attend classes if they can’t bring their children with them. On Tuesday mornings, the Ukrainian Institute London is holding English classes at West London Welcome where students can bring their children, and we to need grow our team of wonderful volunteers to help look after the little ones.

What does the volunteering involve?
Classes take place in one big room at West London Welcome, and in the corner there is a lovely creche with lots of toys and activities for children. We have a rota of volunteers to help with looking after around four children (aged 1 to 4). In case there are any issues with the children, their parents will always be on hand in the same room where they will be having their English classes!

Timings & location
Classes take place on Tuesday mornings in Barons Court in West London, 10:00-11:30am. After the classes each week we have tea, coffee and cakes with our students, which our volunteers are warmly welcome to stay for! We are running two 5-week courses, from 20 February -19 March and from 16 April – 7 May.
