As part of vital reforms in Ukraine, Dr Ulana Suprun and her team are transforming the old corrupted inefficient healthcare system, the first time in 26 years. Dr Suprun is keen to break the chains of the Soviet legacy in healthcare in Ukraine and to shift its focus to the patients. After a year of fierce national debate, by the end of 2017 the healthcare reform was finally adopted and is to be implemented during the next three years. This April the Doctor for Each Family campaign was launched throughout the country as a first step in providing freedom of choice for one’s own family doctor. Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Dr Ulana Suprun will speak on the ongoing transformations of the healthcare system, its main challenges, and opportunities.
The talk will be moderated by Marina Pesenti, Director of the Ukrainian Institute.

Ulana Suprun
Dr Ulana Suprun is the Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine, founder and former director of the NGO Patriot Defence, and former director of the Humanitarian Initiatives for the Ukrainian World Congress. She and her husband Marko Suprun moved to Ukraine in November 2013. Both were on Maidan active during the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv. Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko awarded Dr. Suprun and Marko Suprun Ukrainian citizenship in July 2015, "in the national interest of Ukraine.” On July 27 2016, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution appointing Ulana Suprun as the acting Minister of Health of Ukraine. Since that time Dr. Suprun and her team are actively working on transforming Ukrainian healthcare into a modern Western system.
